Range & Reason is a small, independent site of free logic puzzles and puzzle tools, made for people who like working things out.

How the puzzles are made
Every logic grid puzzle is built by our own puzzle engine. It picks a random hidden solution, writes candidate clues from it, and adds clues one at a time, solving the puzzle after each, until exactly one answer remains. Then it removes every clue that turns out not to be needed. The result is a puzzle that is always solvable by logic and never has two answers. The daily puzzle uses the date as its starting point, so everyone gets the same puzzle on the same day.
The Kakuro solver and the combinations chart are calculated exactly, not looked up, so they're correct for any grid.

If you find a puzzle that seems to have two answers, or a clue that reads badly, please tell us at hello@rangeandreason.online and include the puzzle's web address.
How the site is funded
The site is free and supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are kept away from the puzzle controls, and nothing on the site is sponsored. See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.
